About Arty Boos
Hello! I’m Naomi and I am an Australian mum or two living in beautiful Surrey. I’m a trained and qualified high school art teacher - currently taking a break to look after my two little artists.
About a year and a half ago I was melting down some old crayons in moulds and got to thinking more about where the wax comes from the big brands I was melting down. The more I researched it became apparent that they mostly used paraffin which is a by product of petroleum - a non renewable source of energy. I started looking for more environmentally eco friendly waxes. I tried a range of waxes and ultimately settled on a 100% non GMO soy wax. Soy wax - when done right - is a much more eco friendly alternative to paraffin. My wax comes from Europe which helps reduce it’s carbon footprint (most soy waxes are made in the USA). It is vegan and biodegradable and more sustainable than paraffin!! I mix it with a range of natural and synthetic (mineral based) earth pigments and have carefully selected 12 colours which I got lab tested to meet safety regulations and CAUK marking.
Above all - the soy was is incredibly soft meaning it’s super easy for little artists to make marks! I also do little art projects on my Instagram which shows you lots of fun little ways to use the crayons!
I mix, melt, pour and package everything by hand from my little home in Surrey! I hope you like them as much as I like making them!
