How did Art by Jennifer Clare get started?

Signed off from my corporate job of 22 years with emotional burnout and stress after a difficult few years personally, I picked up a paintbrush as a way of creating a mindful practise and enjoyed the creative outlet. I discovered that not only did I absolutely love painting, I was also producing art that people were enjoying. The more I painted, the more I realised how much I love to create family illustrations; to capture a moment in time and celebrate the connections between the people (and pets) that we love. You will see that I mostly paint people walking away. This is because it is not just our faces that convey the emotion and connections between us. It is shown in the way we lean in towards each other, the hand holding, the head tilts and the synchronicity of our steps. I love to capture all the idiosyncrasies that make us who we are… unique and beautiful.

I knew this is what I wanted to continue doing and I have painted every day since!

A bit about where your lovely purchases are coming from

The kitchen table has become my work space! I would love to build a studio in the garden for my painting but for now, my happy space is this corner of the family kitchen.

I am grateful for every person who asks me to paint a special memory for them and love to hear the reactions from my customers. It is my aim work to make sure each and every illustration is jam packed with emotion and attention to detail.

Most days you will find me painting with 80's music on in the background, (who doesn't love a power ballad), my cockapoo Maverick sat at my feet (very cute, but also a bit smelly) and a coffee in my favourite 'snuggle up' mug. (And yes - I regularly dip my brush into my coffee cup rather than the water pot by mistake!).

If I'm not painting - I am at the beach!

My illustrations are bespoke and created from your photos, so each one is a personal commission. You will need to send the photo to me when you place your order.

Some illustrations can also be customised with the names of our family or friends. Simply message me with the details you would like included.
