About Guiti Creations

Hi, I’m Fiona and welcome to my shop. One of my earliest earliest memories is of being tucked up in a chair on a large cushion leaning to sew on a hand turning Singer sewing machine - I must have been about 4! Forward to what seems like a lifetime later I am still busy making things.

How did Guiti Creations get started?

After studying art at university, my first job was as a colour coordinator in a clothing factory. After emigrating from Africa back to the UK, I became an art teacher and enjoyed a wonderful career inspiring generations of youngsters in all creative aspects. Somewhere along the line I also fell in love with beautiful fabrics and, given my ecological beliefs that fast fashion is not sustainable and that world resources are scarce, I aim to produce ranges of beautiful objects that can last a lifetime (such as Christmas stockings) or be used over and over by different people (for example, fabric gift bags)

A bit about where your lovely purchases are coming from

At the moment I sew at the dining table but hope, in the future, to have my own dedicated studio … one day!

And what about the crafting talent behind these great products

I started about six years ago to make one-off ‘curly-toed’ heirloom Christmas stockings as I wanted something individual and special to give as Christmas presents to my family and friends. These were so well received that I started making them, and other fabric items, for sale too.

I regularly scour the internet for over-runs, sample books and discontinued lines of beautiful fabrics that may otherwise end up in landfill to make products from. The quality of a product is really important to me as flimsy and/or badly made items do not last.

I am lucky in that my lovely husband is the powerhouse behind the pricing, packing and posting of our items, leaving me to get on with creating.

My most popular year-round seller are our fully lined fabric gift bags: at any one time I usually have over 200 in stock in various sizes, colours and different fabrics. My favourite ones are definitely the silk embroidered ones.
