How did Marshall Woodwork Shop get started?

As I started MWS Co. it was always my dream to have my own workshop and create bespoke items that people would love and cherish more many years, so during the pandemic i decided to make it a reality! Every product that I create is to the highest of my standard, this is because i would never want a customer to not be fully satisfied with their product. If you want a timeless piece or a gift to a loved one or yourself, then this is the place for you!

And what about the crafting talent behind these great products

All of my products go through a multi stage process, the first process is selecting which timber is suitable for the job, unfortunately some wood isn’t to a high enough standard to be used as a cheese board. This is because a cheese board needs to be food safe, so there can’t be any cracks or places for food or juices to get into!

Once I’m happy with my wood i then make sure it’s flat and then start my sanding process, this is the most crucial part! It is now my responsibility to ensure that the board is sanded perfectly to 320 grit without leaving a single mark or scratch in the wood!

I then do a ‘water pop’, which is where you wet all wood with water and all it to dry. This makes grain feel furry. I then re-sand it to 320 grit. If i didn't do this then the second the board was washed or cleaned it’d immediately feel rough!

Now is the fun part, i get to apply my finish, this is a food safe mineral oil which helps to seal the wood and keep it hygienic for many more
