Small Business Share - Cane Rat Distillery

As we were setting up Small Market and heading into the world of small business ownership we started to chat to Lucia and her partner Rod. Lucia was a fellow crafter, and Rod was starting up a craft rum distillery in Buckinghamshire. We loved the story, and the passion from the team at the Cane Rat Distillery was a good match with our own, even if they were crafting spirits.

Cane Rat launched a KickStarter and thanks to a total of 158 backers they met their target and could set about funding the creation of this great new rum distillery. It's been great to be one of those backers to hear about all of their developments, watch the idea come to life and to watch the frustration at the legal wrangling that take up so much time. Every small business has its trials!

Here at Small Market Chris is an avid drinker of most things fancy and alcoholic, so I'm sure that once the project is up and running and the distillery is open for business we'll be heading down there to sample the wares, and to see our name up on the distillery wall.
